Is it permissible to suffice with verse 82 of Surat Al-Ma'idah to praise Christians and consider them the closest to Muslims, without mentioning verse 83 which describes the reason for this affection?

All the verses indicate that those referred to as Christians in the verse, "And you will surely find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, 'We are Christians'," are those who believed in Muhammad (peace be upon him) and were influenced by the Qur'an. This is evident in the verses, "That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant. And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, 'Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses...'" Sayyid Qutb emphasizes that this ruling is limited to this specific situation, and not to everyone who claims to be Christian.
