This is due to the depth of their hatred for Islam and Muslims, out of transgression, envy, stubbornness, and disbelief. As for those who say, "Indeed, we are Christians," they are the closest in affection to the believers because among them are priests and monks, and because they are not arrogant. And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, their hearts are humbled, and they believe. However, this ruling is confined to a specific group among them, not everyone who claims Christianity.
