What is the authenticity of the story of the man whose eyebrows fell over his eyes, who came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and asked him about the acceptance of his repentance after committing all sins? And what is the authenticity of the chain of transmission of the hadith: "Have you submitted (to Islam)?" He said: "Yes." He (the Prophet) said: "Then do good deeds and abandon evil deeds, and Allah will turn all of them into good deeds for you"?

The hadith is authentic, affirmed by Al-Haythami, Ibn Hajar, Al-Albani, and others. The most authentic of its chains of transmission is that narrated by Al-Tabarani from Abu Tawil Shatab Al-Mamdooh, in which a man asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, if he could repent after committing all sins. The answer was in the affirmative after his acceptance of Islam, and that Allah would transform his evil deeds into good ones. As for the narration by Ibn Abi Hatim from Makhool, there is a discontinuity between Makhool and Amr ibn Absah, and Al-Tabarani's narration from Salamah ibn Nufayl is weak due to Yasin Al-Zayyat.
