What is the ruling on the work of a passports officer who is compelled to search women, and what should he do about harassment from some of them, or dealing with those who have lost their minds due to alcohol, especially since his wife refuses for him to leave unless there is an alternative, and he fears falling into what displeases Allah?

It is permissible to use passport applications that require verifying a woman's identity by looking at her face, unless there is a khulwa (private seclusion) or fear of fitna (temptation). This is because looking at the face of a non-mahram woman is permissible when there is a need and without lust, as mentioned by Al-Buhuti.

Therefore, there is no need to leave work due to looking at women's faces when there is a necessity. However, one must limit their gaze to what is necessary and fear Allah. If leaving work is due to harassment from some people, then patience is required, as few jobs are free from annoyances.
