What is the wisdom behind Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) never prostrating to an idol before his prophethood?

That the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, never prostrated to an idol is one of the proofs of God's protection of him, as his innate disposition (fitra) was not corrupted like that of other idolaters. Indeed, some of them realized the corruption of the minds of those who worshiped idols. Ibn Ishaq mentioned that when the Ansar returned to Medina after the Second Pledge of Aqabah, they openly declared their Islam. Among them was Mu'adh ibn Amr ibn al-Jamuh, whose father Amr was a leader of Banu Salama. Amr had taken an idol that he worshiped. Mu'adh ibn Amr and Mu'adh ibn Jabal used to secretly approach his father's idol at night and throw it into a pit containing filth. Amr would wake up to find it, then wash it, perfume it, and hang it up again. They did this repeatedly until Amr despaired of it and hung his sword on it. So they came and took the sword from its neck, tied it to a dead dog, and threw it into a well of filth. When Amr saw it, he embraced Islam and his Islam was good. He said:

By God, had you been a god, you would not have been You and a dog in a pit, tied together. Woe to your meeting as a despised god! Now we have exposed you for utter deception. Praise be to God, the Most High, the Possessor of Bounties, The Giver, the Provider, the Judge of Faith. It is He who rescued me before I became held captive in the darkness of a grave.
