Is there sin, incurring God's wrath, in a wife not contacting her husband—who abandoned her, married other women, withheld her maintenance, deserted her bed, and treated her badly—especially since their children believe that his accountability is with God and they ask her to contact him?

A husband is required to treat his wife well and acknowledge her rights, for they (women) have rights similar to those (duties) upon them, according to what is equitable. A husband is not permitted to abandon his wife except in cases of 'nushuz' (disobedience) and then only within the marital bed, not by leaving the home. A husband is not obliged to sleep on the same bed as his wife if he fulfills his duty of intercourse, as intercourse is a right for the wife upon her husband, according to her desire and his ability. Cursing and insulting are not characteristics of believers, and doing so towards one's wife is even more reprehensible. It is recommended to be patient and pray for the husband, offer him sincere advice, and seek help from wise family members if his situation does not improve. The wife is not obligated to contact or apologize unless she has fallen short in her duties towards him, and the wife's maintenance in food, drink, clothing, and housing is obligatory upon the husband.
