What is the meaning of the Hadith: "From the excellence of a person's Islam is his leaving what does not concern him," and is there a connection between it and the Hadith: "Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it"?

There is a connection between the two hadiths, for enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil concerns every Muslim, and it is among the most obligatory matters. It does not fall away from a responsible individual merely because he thinks it will not be effective. And his (peace be upon him) saying, "Among the excellence of a person's Islam is his leaving alone what does not concern him," does not necessitate abandoning enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil. Rather, it necessitates leaving alone what does not concern him regarding the private matters of others, and what he does not need for the necessities of his religion and worldly life, and what does not benefit him in gaining the pleasure of his Lord. It also includes excessive permissible things. Therefore, there is no contradiction between the two hadiths.
