What is the meaning of the noble Hadith: "From the excellence of a person's Islam is his leaving alone that which does not concern him"?

The meaning of the Hadith is that whoever perfects their Islam, abandons what does not concern them, whether in speech or action, and restricts themselves to what does concern them. The meaning of "concerns them" (yaʿnīhi) is that their attention is related to it, and it is among their aims and objectives. This necessitates abandoning forbidden things, doubtful matters, disliked things, and excessive permissible things. Included in the meaning of "what does not concern them" is what they do not need for the necessities of their religion and worldly life, and what will not benefit them in earning the pleasure of their Lord.
