Is a person given free will in their sustenance, education, and work, or are these predetermined and written for them?

All matters of provision (rizq), lifespan (ajal), happiness, and misery are predetermined eternally. Allah has ordained these things through means, and He has granted the servant a will and a choice. One is facilitated for that for which he was created. You must have a good opinion of your Lord, strive in supplication and resort to Him, and draw near to Him through acts of obedience. For piety (taqwa) towards Allah is among the greatest means of facilitating matters and attaining provision and happiness, as He, the Almighty, says: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect" and "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him ease in his matter." Strive in obedience to Him and rely upon Him, and know that all good is in His hands, that He is more merciful to you, and that what has befallen you was not to miss you, and what has missed you was not to befall you. Exert effort in seeking work and performing it with excellence, and avoid sadness and depression by being content with Allah's decree and by continuously remembering Him and supplicating to Him.
