What is the authenticity of the ḥadīth that mentions the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) warning against residing in the cursed area of "Tahūdah," and does the curse here imply not dwelling in this area, and are there other places mentioned in the Qur'an or Sunnah as being cursed?
It is mentioned in "Al-Rawd al-Mi'tar" and "Tabaqat Ulama Ifriqiya" a from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in which he forbade dwelling in Tahudha and described it as cursed, and that men from his Ummah would be killed there in jihad, receiving the reward of the people of Badr and Uhud. Among those who narrated this Hadith is Shahr ibn Hawshab.
However, the chain of narration of this Hadith is weak, as it revolves around Shahr ibn Hawshab, who is not accepted by many Hadith scholars. It was said about him: "He narrates Mu'dalat (disconnected Ahadith) from trustworthy narrators, and Maqlubat (inverted Ahadith) from reliable ones." Ibn Hajar said about him: "Saduq (truthful), but frequently transmits Mursal (Ahadith with a missing link) and has delusions."
It is possible that the origin of this report is from the Isra'iliyat (narrations from Jewish and Christian traditions). Therefore, the report is not established, no ruling can be based on it, and the curse on that area is not confirmed.
As for cursed places, no mention of them has been made in the Holy Quran or the authentic , except for a Hadith that Al-Albani deemed weak, which states that Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, passed by Babylon and forbade praying there because it was cursed.
