How is the inheritance distributed if the heirs are a daughter and a paternal half-brother?

If the heirs are limited to a daughter and a paternal brother, the daughter receives half, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿وَإِنْ كَانَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَلَهَا النِّصْفُ﴾ [And if there is only one, she will have half]. The paternal brother receives the remainder, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Give the prescribed shares to those entitled to them; then whatever remains is for the closest male heir.” The inheritance—after deducting rights from it—is divided into two full shares, one for the daughter and one for the brother. It is important to note that matters of inheritance are very serious and complex, and a mere fatwa is insufficient. Rather, they must be referred to the Sharia courts for investigation and consideration of the existence of other heirs, wills, or debts that take precedence over the heirs' rights.
