Is it permissible to eat food whose cost its owner was morally coerced into paying, or to attend the sitting in which this food is served?
It is not permissible to embarrass a person and compel him to pay his money, because coercion by thevetsword of shame is like coercion by a physical sword. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade taking a Muslim's money without his willing consent. Whoever attends a gathering where there is coercion to pay money, he must change this evil according to his ability.
