What is the meaning of "al-hanth"? And what is the ruling on retracting from it? May Allah reward you with good.

The meaning of al-hinth (breaking an oath) is explained in Fatwa no. 35292. It is not permissible to retract it once it has occurred, nor to retract the oath itself. However, it is prescribed for the one who swore an oath to break it (yahnat nafsuh) if what necessitates the breaking of the oath is lawful. This might even be better than remaining on the oath. In such a case, an expiation for the oath (kaffarat yamin) becomes obligatory, due to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "By Allah, if Allah wills, I do not swear an oath and then see something else better than it, except that I do what is better and release myself from it." And in another narration: "and I expiate for my oath."
