Is it forbidden to publicize a person's death in the mosque?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the type of lamentation (na'i) that involves raising one's voice and boasting, as was practiced in the جاهلية (pre-Islamic era). However, if the announcement of a death is for the purpose of increasing the number of people praying over the deceased, without raising the voice or mentioning boasts, then it is permissible. An example of this is the Prophet's announcement of the death of al-Najashi.
