What is the interpretation of verse (53) of Surah Al-Anfal?

The verse: "That is because Allah would not change a favor which He had bestowed upon a people until they change what is within themselves. And indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing" (Al-Anfal: 53), means that Allah does not alter His favor upon a people unless they change their state, which He desires from them. So, if they fail to appreciate the favor and become involved in sins or disbelief, Allah diverts His favor from them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing of what transpires from them. This aligns with His (Exalted be He) saying: "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves" (Ar-Ra'd: 11). This is Allah's practice regarding His creation; He does not inflict a calamity except due to a sin, and He does not remove it except through repentance.
