It is not permissible to eat from ill-gotten wealth except in cases of dire necessity. The mother must be persuaded to agree to the marriage, and intermediaries should be sought to achieve this purpose. If the mother insists on refusing and mediation proves ineffective, then the girl is permitted to marry without her consent, because the legal guardianship belongs to the father, and the mother's consent is for the sake of showing her dutifulness. The girl must maintain contact with her mother and advise her to repent.
