What is the zakat due on 42 mithqals of gold?

If the gold is in the form of jewelry, the majority of scholars do not obligate zakat on it, while Abu Hanifa and some contemporary scholars have made it obligatory. The zakat on it is 2.5% of the gold itself for every 100 grams, or its cash value at the time zakat becomes due. However, if the gold is not jewelry, zakat becomes obligatory on it if it reaches the nisab (approximately 85 grams) and one lunar year has passed, and its zakat is paid at the same percentage.
