Does my vow to perform Umrah become void if my mother forgives me, knowing that my mother is well-off and will perform Hajj this year? Is it permissible for me to spend the vow designated for charity on charitable organizations or on mosques?
A vow contingent on a condition must be fulfilled when the condition is met. However, it does not have to be fulfilled immediately if the wording of the vow does not necessitate it. Thus, marriage can precede the fulfillment of the vow. If the one making the vow (the nādhir) vows to a specific person and offers the vow to them, their obligation is discharged even if the vowed-to person does not accept it. If the one making the vow is permanently unable to fulfill it, they must offer an expiation for an oath (kaffārat yamīn) for each vow. This expiation consists of: freeing a slave, or feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or fasting three days for whoever cannot afford the former options. All of the above is binding if the statement was uttered in the form of a binding vow. As for a mere promise, it is not binding.
