Is Zakat permissible for Ahl al-Bayt (the Sayyids)?

It is not permissible to give zakat to the Prophet's household (Ahl al-Bayt), due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, charity is not befitting for the family of Muhammad; it is but the dirt of people." This is due to their honorable status, and their honor remains, whether they are given their due share from the khums (one-fifth) or not.
