What should the questioner do about hearing voices in his head that curse Allah and Islam, and the resulting self-harm and desire to commit suicide, for fear of Allah’s wrath?
What afflicts a person in terms of whispers (waswas) is from the ploys of Satan, and its cure is not suicide, but rather seeking refuge with Allah and desisting from them, as stated in the Prophet's hadith (peace be upon him): "Satan comes to one of you and says, 'Who created such and such? Who created such and such?' until he says, 'Who created your Lord?' When he reaches that, let him seek refuge with Allah and desist." In a narration by Muslim, it adds: "I have believed in Allah and His messengers."
The presence of these whispers is a sign of pure faith. To get rid of them, one must occupy their time with what benefits them in this world and the Hereafter, resort to the remembrance of Allah, obey Him, and recite the Qur'an, for "(Those who believe and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured)." The remembrance of Allah fortifies the soul against Satan, as stated in the hadith of Al-Harith Al-Ash'ari.
In addition, there is no harm in consulting a specialized psychiatrist if necessary, to obtain organic treatments that alleviate the severity of these whispers.
