How sound is what was mentioned concerning the merit of reciting a specific supplication 10 times every day, or reciting "I seek forgiveness from Allah, other than Whom there is no god, the Living, the Sustainer, Possessor of Majesty and Honor, and I repent to Him" after every prayer and before moving one's leg, in forgiving sins, removing affliction, and salvation from the horrors of the Day of Resurrection?

The statement that the remembrance of Allah forgives all sins, even major ones, has no basis in the Sunnah (definition) or the sayings of the Salaf; rather, it is a fabrication. Frequent remembrance of Allah is indeed among the expiations for sins, but this is conditional upon avoiding major sins and not persisting in them, for major sins are not forgiven except through repentance. As Allah Almighty says: "If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins."
