The answer

A woman engaging in an illicit relationship with a foreign man is a reprehensible and forbidden act. If she is married, the sin is even greater. However, Allah's mercy is vast, for Allah accepts the repentance of those who turn to Him, no matter how great their sins. Allah the Almighty says: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'" One must cease the sin, regret it, and resolve not to return to it, while concealing oneself and not informing the husband or anyone else about the transgression, in accordance with the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "Whoever commits any of these abominations should conceal himself with Allah's concealment." It is permissible to seek forgiveness from the husband in a general manner without explicit disclosure. One should strive in good deeds and expiating good acts, for sincere repentance brings the heart closer to Allah and increases its love for Him.
