The answer

Reliance on Allah is one of the greatest stations and a sign of faith, for whoever relies on Allah, He suffices him and guides him. Allah commanded His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, to rely on Him. It is authentically narrated in the that those who will enter Paradise without reckoning are those who "do not seek , nor believe in omens, nor cauterize, and upon their Lord do they rely." Also, "If you were to rely upon Allah with true reliance, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds; they go out in the morning hungry and return in the evening with full bellies." And whoever says upon leaving his house, "In the name of Allah, I rely upon Allah, and there is no power nor might except with Allah," it is said to him, "You have been guided, protected, and sufficed."

Reliance on Allah is seeking His help, and it is half of the religion. The friends of Allah rely on Him in faith and in supporting His religion. Below them are those who rely on Him for their personal uprightness and maintaining their state with Allah. Then, below these, are those who rely on Him for sustenance, health, and victory. And below these, are those who rely on Him for committing sins and indecencies. Whoever truly relies on Allah for the attainment of something will achieve it. If it is beloved to Allah, the outcome will be praiseworthy; if it is detested, there will be harm and loss. Reliance on Allah is an action of the heart; it is depending on Allah and the heart's knowledge of His sufficiency, coupled with submission, trust, and tranquility. None of this contradicts taking the necessary means.
