How are we to understand the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Allah is more merciful to His slave than this (mother) is to her child," given that a Muslim mother has mercy on her disbelieving child? And does Allah have mercy on the disbelieving servant? And does Allah's not removing the disbeliever from the Fire contradict His mercy?

God's mercy does not contradict the punishment of the disbeliever and their eternal damnation in Hellfire. General mercy encompasses everything in this world, extending to both believers and disbelievers. However, the special mercy in the hereafter is exclusively for believers.

God Almighty is more merciful to His servants than a mother is to her child, for He is the Creator of mercy. Moreover, God's names and attributes do not contradict each other. Just as He is Merciful, He is also Just and Wise. Part of His perfect justice and wisdom is not to equate the believer and the disbeliever, for equating them would be an injustice that contradicts justice.

The disbeliever disqualifies themselves from deserving special mercy in the hereafter. Therefore, God's mercy is near to those who do good.
