Is one who dies due to excessive smoking considered like one who dies due to drinking alcohol? And is the funeral prayer to be offered for them?

Alcohol and tobacco are both forbidden. However, the sin of smoking is lighter than the sin of drinking alcohol. Praying over someone who died due to smoking, drinking alcohol, or any other sin is permissible and obligatory, as long as they outwardly showed adherence to Islam. Some scholars disliked the prayer of people of virtue over those who committed major sins, as a deterrent to others like them.
