Is it permissible for a woman who has been irrevocably divorced a major, final divorce (baynunah kubra) to leave her home during the waiting period ('iddah) to take her parents to the doctor, knowing that there is no one else to take them but her?

We advise the wife to be patient and not seek divorce, and to strive for reconciliation with her husband. If reconciliation is not possible, then there is no blame upon her for seeking divorce. In the event of an irrevocable divorce (such as khul'), she must remain in the marital home during her 'iddah, and she is not permitted to leave except during the day to attend to her essential needs, or at night if it is impossible to attend to them during the day. She is not permitted to leave to attend to the needs of others, even if they are her parents.
