Should the husband insist to his wife and her family that she return to his home to complete her waiting period (iddah) there, or should he let her complete it at her family's home, given his desire to separate from her?

Divorce is not recommended merely due to unhappiness in married life, as it is disliked in Sharia except for a valid reason. Efforts should be made to address the causes of disagreement and to bring the wife back if she has left without permission. If reconciliation is not possible and separation is desired, then khul’ (divorce at the wife's instance) is the most suitable option; otherwise, divorce according to the Sunnah.
