What is the ruling on bleaching the entire body using a cream that permanently removes skin color to make it white, in order to treat vitiligo, knowing that the natural color cannot be restored, according to the Maliki school of thought?
It is permissible to remove blemishes, disfigurement, facial melasma, and to improve the face without peeling and without anything that causes harm. If the skin discoloration causes harm and disfigurement, and it cannot be restored to its natural color, then there is no Sharia impediment to treating it without the prohibited peeling, so that the color becomes uniform, unless greater harm results from it; due to the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: “There should be no harm nor reciprocating harm.”
