Unifying body color to treat vitiligo involves removing melanin pigment from healthy skin to make the entire body white. Treating vitiligo-affected areas is permissible, based on the of Arfajah ibn As'ad, who had a nose made of gold, and the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud, "except for a disease." However, unifying body color by whitening healthy areas might be considered altering Allah's creation. Yet, the preponderant view is permissibility if it serves as a treatment for the body and achieves an acceptable, moderate color.
