Is the hadith "Whoever is first to something permissible has a greater right to it" authentic?
The aforementioned Hadith was not narrated with this exact wording. However, narrations with a similar meaning have been transmitted from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, such as: "Whoever precedes others to something that no Muslim has preceded him to, then it is his." Its chain of narration is weak. This meaning is supported by the authentic Hadith: "Whoever cultivates a land that belongs to no one, then he has more right to it," and "Whoever revives a dead land, then it is his."
