What is the ruling on circulating videos and stories about incestuous marriages or repentance from fornication with the intention of admonition and learning?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If the stories contain unlawful elements that arouse desires or depict the actions of sinners, then it is not permissible to publish them, lest they become a guide to evil for those with sick hearts. However, if they are free from such elements, then they are idle talk that should be avoided, in accordance with His, the Almighty's, saying: "And those who turn away from idle talk." It is better to focus on disseminating the texts of the two revelations (the Qur'an and Sunnah), because their impact on hearts is stronger and more profound, as He, the Almighty, said: "Say, 'I only warn you by revelation.'" A Muslim should, therefore, direct his energy towards spreading the stories of the Prophets and the Companions, and as much as possible from the texts of the two revelations.
