How sound is the statement that the Vatican is hiding books written before the advent of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and that if they were revealed, many disbelievers would embrace Islam, taking into account Allah Almighty's saying: {And if Allah had known any good in them, He would have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, they would have turned away, while they were refusing}?

It is difficult to ascertain with certainty the affirmation or denial of the prophecy of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in the Gospels, as long as what is denied or affirmed is not specified and we have not examined their books. However, the Quran affirmed that the People of the Book concealed the truth. Many scholars have stated that the prophecy of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, exists in the Gospels despite their distortion. It is presumed that if rational people were to examine them, they would believe. The noble verse: "And if Allah had known any good in them, He would have made them hear; and if He had made them hear, they would have turned away, while they are refusing." (Al-Anfal: 23) does not contradict the belief of some rational people if they were to examine the prophecies in the Gospel and were seekers of truth. The verse was revealed concerning those in whom Allah knew there was no capacity for guidance due to their aversion.
