The virtue of reciting the Qur'an is immense, but much of what is narrated concerning the rewards for specific surahs is not free from weakness. The virtue of the Basmalah mentioned has not been authentically established. As for Al-Fatihah, it is authentically established that it is a ruqyah (spiritual healing) and the best of the Qur'an. The virtue of Surat Al-Baqarah and Ayat Al-Kursy is also authentically established, but describing a house where it is not recited as graves is incorrect. The meaning of the Prophet's saying, "Do not make your houses into graveyards," is a prohibition against abandoning prayer or remembrance and acts of obedience in them. It has not been established that a mad person recovers upon the recitation of Ayat Al-Kursy over them. As for the virtue of Surat Al-An'am, Al-Anbiya, Yusuf, Ar-Ra'd, Ya-Sin, As-Saffat, and Al-Qamar, what is narrated concerning them is weak or fabricated.
