What is the ruling on listening to Ibn al-Farid's poem "You Are My Ordinances and My Supererogatory Prayers"?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is not advisable to listen to the poems of Ibn al-Farid, due to the errors they contain. He is one of the leading proponents of hulul (divine indwelling), and his poems are replete with this disbelief. Al-Dhahabi described him as the master of ittihad (union with God), with which he filled his "Ta'iyya," and that his poems explicitly advocate for ittihad. The aforementioned poem contains phrases from which hulul may be understood.
