ما الحكمة من الوضوء من لحم الإبل؟
It has been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he commanded ablution after eating camel meat. Obedience and submission to Allah and His Messenger are obligatory, even if the wisdom behind a ruling is not clear. Some scholars hold that the ruling is purely an act of worship (ta'abbudi), while others believe it has underlying reasons, among which are:
1. The satanic nature of camels: It is mentioned in a hadith that camels were created from devils, and that there is a devil on the back of every camel. Eating their meat might lead to acquiring a satanic force of aversion and stubbornness. Ablution is prescribed to extinguish this fiery force with water.
2. The effect of camel meat on the nerves: It is known to agitate the nerves, and ablution helps to calm and cool them, just as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded ablution when one is angry.
