Is it permissible for an engineer residing at a desert oil site in Saudi Arabia for a period exceeding or less than a month, working 12 hours a day, to combine and shorten the four prayers together, or to shorten without combining, or to combine without shortening? And if that is not permissible, is it permissible for him to perform the Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers consecutively due to night work and sleeping after noon?

Whoever intends to reside in a place for four days or more, excluding the days of entry and departure, is not considered a traveler, and must complete the prayer from the first day. It is not permissible to combine all five daily prayers. Rather, the prayers that may be combined during travel, rain, or illness are: Dhuhr with Asr, and Maghrib with Isha, either by combining them earlier (taqdim) or later (ta'khir). It is not permissible to combine Asr with Maghrib, nor Isha with Fajr, nor Fajr with Dhuhr. Work is not an excuse that permits combining prayers in the manner mentioned.
