Conditions stipulated by the wife that do not contradict the essence of the marriage contract must be fulfilled. The default is to fulfill the wife's condition of maintaining her residency, provided that Islamic guidelines are observed. Thus, she is not permitted to travel without a mahram (definition) unless there is a necessity, nor is she permitted to ride in a car alone with a non-mahram man, as this constitutes unlawful khalwa (definition) (private seclusion). This is unless there is someone else with them who negates the khalwa and the fitna (temptation) is safeguarded against. Merely maintaining residency is not considered a necessity that would permit what is forbidden. Therefore, the husband is not obligated to fulfill the condition if one of these prohibitions exists.
