Is there any evidence that the Balance on the Day of Resurrection will have a tongue?
The balance (Mizan) by which deeds will be weighed on the Day of Resurrection is affirmed by the Qur’an and the widely transmitted Sunnah. It has two pans in which good deeds and evil deeds will be placed, as mentioned in the Hadith of the man with the card (sahib al-biṭāqah). Some scholars have stated that the balance has a tongue, and there is a narration to that effect from Ibn Abbas and Al-Hasan Al-Basri, but no مرفوع (Marfu’) hadith (a hadith traced back to the Prophet) has been authentically transmitted regarding this. The balance is real, and it will weigh deeds, registers (of deeds), and individuals. The hadiths about the balance are متواترة (mutawātirah - widely transmitted), and the Qur’an is full of verses about the balance.
