Does repentance come by our will or by the permission of Allah, the Most Mighty, the Most Majestic?

Repentance is of two types: the repentance of the servant to his Lord, by feeling remorse, desisting from the sin, and resolving not to return to it; and the repentance of Allah towards the servant, by acceptance and forgiveness. Both are combined in the Almighty's saying: "Indeed, the acceptance of repentance by Allah is only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon after. It is those to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness, and Allah is ever Knowing and Wise."
