The question

Is it permissible to return a divorced wife with a new contract without documenting the first divorce? And is the waiting period (Iddah) calculated from the date of uttering the divorce or from its documentation? And is it permissible to have intercourse with her before documenting the divorce or during the three months following its documentation and before the new contract?

The answer

The waiting period (') begins on the day the divorce is declared. It is calculated either by three menstrual cycles for menstruating women, or by three months for those who do not menstruate due to youth or old age, or by giving birth for a pregnant woman. If the waiting period has ended, a new marriage contract and a new dowry are required for reconciliation. However, if she is still within the waiting period, it is sufficient to simply take her back into your custody, and the divorce certificate has no bearing on this.
