Is it possible to trace the lineage of Ahl al-Bayt in Egypt or the Levant?

Ahl al-Bayt are Banu Hashim and Banu al-Muttalib. This is the preponderant view according to Al-Shafi'i and a group of scholars, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Banu al-Muttalib and Banu Hashim are one and the same." The wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) are also included in Ahl al-Bayt, as Allah the Almighty says: "Indeed, Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity [of sin], O people of the household."
