Is there a punishment of stoning for adultery in Islam, despite it not being mentioned in the Qur’an, and is it permissible for the Messenger (peace be upon him) to legislate something contrary to God's legislation, especially with the existence of the verse: "And those who commit unlawful sexual intercourse of your women - bring against them four [witnesses] from among you. And if they testify, then detain them in their houses until death takes them or God ordains for them [another] way. And the two among you who commit it - dishonor them both. But if they repent and correct themselves, then turn away from them"?

The wording of the verse of stoning (rajm) has been abrogated, but its ruling remains. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, carried out stoning. Stoning is a right in the Book of Allah for the married fornicator if evidence is established, or if there is pregnancy, or a confession. This is the view of the generality of the people of knowledge, and the is a revelation from Allah the Almighty.
