Is it permissible to undergo a cosmetic rhinoplasty to correct a deviated septum and reduce the size of the nose due to its effect on breathing and psychological well-being? And is this considered altering Allah's creation or a sign of discontent with Allah's decree? Is it permissible to perform it in Ramadan? And will one be punished for acting upon an erroneous Ijtihadi fatwa?

It is impermissible to alter Allah's creation for the purpose of beautification and increasing one's appeal, unless the defect reaches the level of disfigurement that causes repulsion. Furthermore, considering undergoing the procedure does not contradict contentment with Allah's decree, for patience with a disliked decree is obligatory, while contentment with it is not obligatory according to some scholars. It is permissible to perform the procedure in Ramadan if it does not lead to breaking the fast, and a Muslim must follow the preponderant opinion.
