What is your advice to me as a wife who suffers from the ill-treatment of her husband, who describes her and her son as a tribulation, and do I have the right to ask for a separation if the situation continues?
Allah has commanded that wives be treated with kindness (ma'ruf), which is neither denied by شرع (Islamic law) nor by مروءة (chivalry/decency). This includes kind words, good deeds, fairness in spending and overnight stays, and beauty in both words and actions, and that he should adorn himself for her just as she adorns herself for him. It is mentioned in the hadiths that the best of people are those who are best to their families, and that the most complete in faith among believers are those with the best character, and the best of them are those best to their women, and that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, enjoined good treatment of women. Part of treating with kindness is for the husband to fulfill his wife's right to the bed, and the most correct opinion is that it is obligatory according to her need and his ability. The husband's actions of abuse and abandoning the bed are a sin and an injustice. Patience and attempting reconciliation are advised. If reconciliation is not achieved, then seeking divorce is permissible.
