What is the reason for women being prohibited from following funeral processions?

The prohibition of women following funerals is not an absolute prohibition. Its reason often stems from their lack of patience in the face of calamity, and what might result from that, such as neglecting rights, displaying adornment, and wailing. A Muslim must submit to the texts of the Quran and Sunnah, whether the reason is known or not.
