How can we reconcile the fact that Jabir ibn Abdullah's father did not return to this world after his martyrdom, due to God's preordainment that they shall not return, with Jesus's (peace be upon him) bringing the dead back to life, and the return of Uzair and the People of the Cave to life after their death?

Every soul shall taste death, and Allah Almighty’s saying: “You gave us death twice, and You gave us life twice,” indicates that creation was initially lifeless sperm, then Allah brought them to life in this world, then caused them to die, then brought them back to life through resurrection.

The principle is that whoever experiences the second death does not return to this world. However, Allah Almighty has made exceptions in certain cases, for the wisdom of demonstrating His power to resurrect after death. Among these are: The people who left their homes fearing death, so Allah caused them to die then brought them back to life. The slain man of Bani Israel whom Allah brought back to life by striking him with a part of the slaughtered cow. The four whom Christ Jesus, son of Mary, peace be upon him, brought back to life by Allah’s permission. Uzair, whom Allah caused to die for a hundred years then brought him back to life.

These were exceptions made by Allah for the wisdom of demonstrating His power of resurrection and gathering after death. As for Abdullah ibn Haram, may Allah be pleased with him, Allah’s decree for him is like that for other people, that he shall not return to this world.
