Whoever abandons prayer believing they have not reached puberty, then it becomes clear to them that they have, is obligated to make up the prayers according to the majority of scholars. As for whoever abandons it out of ignorance of its obligation, there is a difference of opinion, and the preponderant view is that they are not obligated to make them up if they were ignorant or had a mistaken interpretation. This is the choice of Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, while the majority view the obligation of making them up in this case as well. The more cautious approach is to make them up if possible.
