What is the ruling on one who plants his land with grapes, knowing that whoever buys the crop will sell it to a winepress?

Every sale or rental where it is known that the buyer or renter intends to use it for a forbidden purpose is impermissible, as it falls under aiding in sin and aggression. If the farm owner knows or strongly suspects that the person buying his produce will sell it to someone who will press it into wine, then it is not permissible for him to sell it. Similarly, every sale where it is known that the buyer intends to use it for a forbidden purpose is not permissible. If the farm owner knows that his produce will inevitably be pressed into wine and cannot be used for permissible purposes, then he should destroy and spoil it, and not give it to someone who will disobey Allah with it. Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas ordered the uprooting of grapes that could only be used by someone who would press them [into wine], and he said: "Woe to me, what a bad elder I would be if I sold wine!"
