Does a triple divorce take effect if the husband utters it while in a state of extreme anger and under the influence of alcohol?
A husband must treat his wife kindly and not harm her, and it is forbidden for a wife to refuse her husband's bed without a legitimate excuse. As for your husband's pronouncement of three divorces conditioned on a touch, if the touch occurred as intended, then three divorces have taken place according to the majority of scholars, which is the preponderant opinion. Therefore, you become unlawful to him until you marry another man and he divorces you after consummation. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah held the view that if he did not intend divorce, he owes an expiation for breaking an oath, and if he intended it, it counts as one divorce. However, if the husband pronounced divorce while in a state of severe anger that made him unaware of what he was saying, then nothing is binding upon him.
