The answer

Believing repenters seek God's forgiveness after committing sins, as Allah the Almighty said: "And those who, when they commit an indecency or wrong themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins—and who can forgive sins except Allah?—and do not persist in what they have done while they know. Their recompense will be forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein. And excellent is the reward of the workers." It is better for a Muslim to seek forgiveness while remembering the sin, feeling its ugliness, and feeling ashamed before Allah, because remembering the sin motivates one to seek forgiveness and regret.
